Diving

Nautilus liveaboards to Guadalupe Island offer up-close encounters with 12 to 19 feet (3.5 to 6 meter) great white sharks which are known to congregate at around 30 feet (9 meters) in these clear, calm waters. Diving is done in submersible cages, with a minimum of three dives per day and is suitable for those with limited dive experience.

Visibility ranges from 125 to 150 feet (38 to 45 meters), with water temperatures from around 68°F (20°C) in winter to 72°F (22°C) in summer. Great whites normally congregate here throughout the year, with aggressive gangs of male sharks witnessed during July and August before females begin to arrive in October and November.

The Nautilus Belle Amie also offers liveaboard expeditions to Socorro Island which is famed for its unique encounters with giant manta rays as they hover closely both above and below divers. Socorro is situated in the Revillagigedo archipelago which lies around 370 miles (600 kilometers) off Mexico’s west coast, with hammerhead sharks, tiger sharks and dolphins all frequenting these waters. Giant mantas are usually found here throughout the year, while humpback whales visit from January through to April.

Nautilus liveaboards to Socorro include up to four dives per day. Visibility normally ranges from around 70-100 feet (20 to 30 meters), although it can drop to around 30 feet (9 meters) when currents increase and volcanic ash levels rise. Dives from the Nautilus Belle Amie are conducted from hi-tech tenders, with a spacious dive deck at the stern of the Main Deck for storing dive equipment and gearing up.

Aluminum tanks, weight belts and weights are provided, with additional dive gear available for rent. For those with certification, Nitrox is also provided at an additional charge. Rebreather support is also available with advance notice.
