Irene is our Manager – The office zookeeper if you will. She ensures the office runs smoothly and that not even a smidge of detail is overlooked. She likes her world neat, tidy and beautifully organized, and this comes through in her work, as loose ends do not exist for Irene. She knows how to get you to the most remote location in the world you could ever think of, and she’ll get you there far more efficiently than anyone else could. We tend to consider her the office Pit-bull. Injustice for one of clients in the travel world?? Unacceptable! She’ll attack the problem and not let up until it’s solved and neatly fixed, smooth as silk. But she’s not all business…
Pieces of the Irene puzzle are put together through chats about her family and trips she takes with them. Her strong interests in reading, family genealogy, home renovation and decorating are obviously very domestic hobbies. Going to her sons hockey games, and shopping with her daughter reinforce the super-mom ideal that Irene portrays. She is the one who was taking her kids on trips when they were just little ones, when others would be inclined to leave them home with grandma and grandpa. If Irene won the lottery, she’d definitely share it with her family, but she’d also have the most beautifully decorated home ever featured in Canadian Homes magazine!
She attended BCIT (British Columbia Institute of Technology) to earn her Hospitality & Tourism Management Certificate and her Certified Travel Manager’s designation. In her previous life, she worked as a bridal salon clerk and at a jeweller; high quality, detail and customer-focused retail jobs. Irene bleeds perfection, and will consequently make your dream dive vacation come true. The highest compliment you can pay her, is to come back to her to book your next trip.
Having been in the travel industry for 28 years, and with Fly & Sea for 17 of those years, there’s not much Irene can’t do. Remote is her middle name. Ok well, maybe it’s Rosa. But it may as well be Remote. Vanuatu? Chuuk? Papua New Guinea? She’ll serve it up neatly packaged with a beautiful bow for you. You can thank her with her biggest vice: Chocolate (or is it shopping? Come on now Irene, don’t lie – we know you better than you think we do!). We asked Irene what super power she’d have if she had the choice and she said “The wisdom of Solomon, the strength of Hercules, the stamina of Atlas, the power of Zeus, the courage of Achilles, and the speed of Mercury”. See? Irene doesn’t do anything half-assed (can I say half-assed on the website? How about hap-hazardly?).
You likely won’t find Irene diving, unless it’s in her own backyard pool with a wide brimmed hat instead of a hood and little cocktail with an umbrella in it instead of a regulator. But you will find her climbing the Sydney Harbour Bridge, or taking her own dream holiday relaxing on an African Safari and getting as close to the animals as legally possible. Include her friends, family, a 5 star spa and good book and you’ve granted her ultimate travel wish (remember, us travel agent’s don’t actually get to relax on our vacations because we are far too busy scoping out the best places for YOU!).
Irene loves learning about destinations that she’s never been to, and her thorough research pays off. She speaks of destinations she’s never even been to (only a few of course!) as if she’s lived there many years. Irene design’s the most unique experience for her clients, and loves that there’s always something new and exciting going on in the travel world. “So many new places in the world to see and experience, and so little time!” she says, “and of course, being invited to experience new destinations and resorts”. So far, her top 3 three journeys have taken her to Cuba, Egypt and Fiji. What’s next on her list? Anywhere she’s not been yet and she’s got her eye on Indonesia.
