.... Rick, with an Engineering Degree from Vanderbilt University, worked as a professional engineer just long enough to realize that engineering was not conducive to his outgoing personality or his income aspirations, so he joined AFLAC in 1975. With a wife and child to feed and working straight commission, he learned salesmanship and marketing quickly and by necessity.
Rick discovered diving as a result of winning sales incentive trips to tropical locations, and got certified with his wife in 1981. In 1990, after 15 successful years with AFLAC as a marketing manager, Rick turned his diving hobby to a home-based scuba instruction and scuba travel business, while at the same time marketed his award winning underwater photography as a freelance photographer.
In 1999, he built and opened Middle Tennessee Scuba and Swim in Franklin, Tennessee that soon became a PADI 5-Start IDC center, and one of the top dive centers in the country. Rick developed an extensive dive travel program in his shop that grew to over $1/2 million in travel sales within the first 8 years. After selling his dive shop in 2007, he continued to lead groups for the new owners, but felt that he needed a new challenge. This led to his joining Fly & Sea Dive Adventures in 2012.
Rick works out of his home in Brentwood, TN. where he lives with his wife of 32 years, Sally, and his son, Wes. He has 4 children and 6 grandchildren.
On a personal note, Rick became a Christian in 1975 and enjoys studying and teaching the Bible and learning more each day about the God who created the marvelous wonders of the earth and sea.
