Egypt & Red Sea Mar 2012

Time of Year You Went: March 2012

Cairo: Le Meredien, Intercontinental Semiramis - Dahab: Le Meridien - Nile River Cruise: MS Royal Ruby - Red Sea Liveaboard: MY Emperor Elite

Our trip was truly amazing, with great thanks to Fly and Sea Dive Adventures.  The experience and information they provided was so helpful and everything that Fly and Sea organized was perfect, leaving us to enjoy the people, the culture and the sights to the fullest.  We were never once uncomfortable or stressed for all of our accommodations, transfers and tours were very well organized and always on time.  We journeyed through time, with very knowledgeable Egyptologist tour guides providing fascinating history lessons along the way.  Everyone was friendly, helpful and professional.  Our accommodations were first class from beginning to end and the service was excellent at all of the hotels, cruise ship and dive boat.

Our liveaboard with Emperor Divers and our camel diving safari with Desert Divers were both incredible.  The beautiful corals, great visibility and abundant sea life made for a memorable trip.  We saw stingrays, moray eels, napoleon wrasse, tuna, barracuda, reef sharks, hammerheads and oceanic white tip sharks.  Wow! The corals were healthy, abundant and beautiful.  At "the Brothers" islands, we dived a couple of wrecks, the Numidia which sank in 1901 and the Aida which hit the reef during a storm in 1957.  Currents were sometimes quite strong but our dive guides and boat crew were very knowledgeable and took good care of everyone.  The staff were fantastic and the food and service was great!

Even though we were warned, the one challenge we found was the aggressive and manipulative sales tactics of the Egyptian merchants, especially in the tourist destinations.  Tour guides are highly recommended, but even they will make an effort to sell you everything so they can make an extra commission.  Aside from this, nothing else could have been better, once again an amazing trip!  Egypt is a place that everyone should visit at least once in their life and the Red Sea is world class diving.  We would definatley go back, 3 weeks was a little short with a one week liveaboard.  There are still things we want to to do that we could not fit in, in 3 weeks.  Highly recommended!

Thanks Fly and Sea Dive Adventures,
