Time of Year You Went: May 2012
Yes we had a great time. But man was it hot, the water was actually 86 deg.!!!! The air was even hotter.
El Galleon was great, the rooms there are nothing special, but the rest of the place is great. Very well run, the diving runs just like a clock. A fun place to be, and to meet other divers. They have a new boat dock and dive gear house. The food is amazing (run by a French chef). We were there on a full moon, so hit some big currents and were not able to do all the dive sites, so the diving there was not as good this time but still had lots of fun. The clothing donation was very well received by the local doctor, she woks with a mission.
Dive Solana was fun as well, a quieter place, the rooms were very nice , the rest of the resort was rather basic. Food was smorgasbord, and there was usually something good, no shortage of food (maybe we were spoiled at El Galleon). But the diving was fantastic, we had a boat, 1 dive master, and 3 boat men with us every dive. the dives were long 75 min. to 105 min. long each! The dive sites were great and yes some were as good as Lembeh but not all. You’ll have to warn people that arrive by car that there’s 240 stairs down to the resort from the road (could be a problem for someone with a handicap).
Doing the trip to these 2 spots was very easy, with a boat ride from one resort to the other, and only 1 flight. I wouldn't mind doing it again. (less Manila, it was big, dirty, and hot).
Thanks Again, Walter
