The vessel itself is nothing short of show-stopping and has a history dating back to 1902. The Adelaar not only served in the war but escaped East Germany. She has subsequently been superbly restored and she effortlessly combines luxurious old-world glamour with modern necessity. You’ll feel positively regal plying the waves in this high-masted Dutch schooner.

Accommodations

Staterooms aboard the Adelaar Liveaboard are truly worthy of that description. The interior is finished in rich teak wood and boasts traditional classic décor that will make you feel like you’ve stepped back in time to a magnificent yesteryear world.

The master suite has high ceilings with a queen sized bed, sofa and desk plus a marble ensuite bathroom and plenty of storage. The remaining three staterooms have double beds with ensuite bathrooms. Two of the staterooms have sofas which, when needed, can be converted into beds. This arrangement is ideal for families with a child or for those who would like separate beds. All accommodation has individually controlled air-conditioning for your comfort. Natural light comes from elegantly finished portholes situated close to the ceiling which ensures your privacy. Deck and cabin towels are provided, and a laundry service is available for an extra cost.

Dining

The service onboard the Adelaar Liveaboard is impeccable; request a cocktail, and it will arrive for you wherever you choose to savour it. Coffee, tea, juice, and water are included in your tariff, and there is a well-stocked bar for you to choose from for an extra cost.

Food is a la carte and breakfast is made to order. Expect gourmet level freshly prepared Indonesian and Western dishes. Ingredients are fresh, local and hand selected by the chefs themselves. Wayan and Made have been expertly trained and have ten-years’ experience delivering tasty dishes to suit guest’s palates. You should also expect afternoon snacks, and if you like a gin and tonic, don’t miss the chance to savour one onboard; it’s the vessels specialty.

As long as the weather is favourable, meals are taken above decks sheltered by a large awning so that you can take in the scenery while dining. There is the main dining salon for those instances when conditions dictate this isn’t possible. Food preferences can be catered for but make sure that your scuba diving travel agent books this for you in advance.

Amenities

Below decks, the main salon is comfortable and a perfect place to curl up with a book. There is a library on board to choose from, and there is an elegant game table if you fancy pitting your wits against your companions in a game of chess. The sundeck is the place to view the stunning scenery, drink in the beautiful sunsets and relax on the sumptuous cushions.

Diving

The eleven-day itinerary has a very relaxed pace offering two or three dives a day along with some dry land exploration which makes it perfect for those travelling with snorkelers or non-divers. Underwater you will be treated to manta rays and mandarin fish as well as the abundant and diverse variety of marine life Komodo is famous for. Whether you like the big stuff or the teeny tiny, you will be treated to the best there is. The cruise director has been diving these waters for fifteen years, knows the sites well, and will treat you to a few that are unique to this itinerary.

Discover Bali’s underwater world as an add-on to your Adelaar Komodo cruise. Adelaar’s dive guests like to add a day or two of diving before embarking on their journey eastward to Komodo. This also acts as a warm-up dive before your 11-day diving journey ahead. Visit the famous WW2 Liberty shipwreck in Tulamben or hunt for Oceanic Sunfish at Nusa Penida! We will be able to arrange day trips for you from your hotel, or perhaps you prefer a 2-day 1-night safari with a hotel stay at Menjangan Island.

Equipment rental is available, but this should be booked in advance. Dive computers are compulsory, and guests should bring a current fit-to-dive medical clearance as well as their log book and certification card. Nitrox is available at an extra cost. Make sure you pack a DIN adapter if you need one.
