Begin the day with freshly cooked eggs, bacon, pancakes and muffins, together with danishes and fresh fruit. Then feast on soup, sandwiches, burgers, salads and quiche at lunch when you return from your morning dives.

Dinners usually consist of fresh vegetables, meat and fish, as well as rice or pasta, with most dietary requests catered for with prior notice. Snacks such as baked cookies and brownies are served throughout the day, together with complimentary soft drinks, local beer, wine and spirits.

Amenities

The Upper Deck features a semi-enclosed, air-conditioned salon where meals are served and there are comfortable sofas where you can relax at the end of the day. The entertainment hub boasts a TV and CD/DVD player, together with a well-stocked video library to select from.

Adjacent lies a spacious deck with loungers where you can soak up the Caribbean sunshine and there are plenty of shaded seating areas where you can kick back with a good book. On the other side of the salon is the galley and access to the pilot house on the Main Deck.

Diving

The Caribbean Explorer II is custom-built for diving, with all diving operations taking place on the aft portion of the Main Deck. In addition to individual gear lockers and a wetsuit hanging area, the dive deck features two freshwater showers, a drinking fountain and its own bathrooms.

Two ladders lead down from the dive platform for easy access to and from the water, and all diving is done from the mothership. Nitrox is available onboard, as are a range of specialty courses and there is a full line of dive gear available for rent. Underwater photographers are well catered for with a dedicated camera table that features a low-pressure air hose and recharging stations, together with a separate freshwater rinse bath.

Diving is possible year-round in the Saba Marine Park and St. Kitts but divers should keep in mind that the hurricane season extends from July through to November. Visibility averages between 60 to 100 feet (18-30 meters) throughout the year while the water temperature is around 80°F (30°C) in the summer and 75°F (24°C) in the winter. Most divers are comfortable in a 3mm wetsuit, although some prefer the warmth of a 5mm during the winter months.

Most itineraries include 2-3 days diving in the Saba Marine Park and 2-3 days at St. Kitts and Nevis, with the diving suitable for all skill levels. A total of five dives are normally offered each day, including night dives. In addition to diving, itineraries onboard the Caribbean Explorer II liveaboard are designed so that guests have time for onshore excursions to explore the museums, forests and natural wonders of the islands.
