Dining

The Maldives liveaboard offers a diverse menu that includes a mixture of local specialties and international favourites. Begin the day with cereals, juices, fresh fruits and hot dishes that are cooked to order, with lunches served after the morning dives in a buffet-style and featuring hot soups, salads, entrees and homemade breads.

Dinners are chef-prepared and comprise a three-course meal, accompanied by local wine and beer, with snacks available for both morning and afternoon tea to ensure you never go hungry between dives. If you have special dietary requirements, please let the Maldives Aggressor know at the time of booking so they can prepare alternative meals.

Fruit juices, soft drinks, iced water, tea, coffee and a limited selection of local beers and wines are complimentary on board the Maldives Aggressor. Due to the high duty charged on liquor, guests are advised to bring their own while being reminded that drinking and diving do not mix.

Amenities

The Maldives Aggressor features a spacious salon and separate dining area, as well as a small library of exchange books and fish identification books for your reference. There’s a partially-covered sundeck on the top that’s complete with a hot tub where you can relax in between dives, with plenty of chaise lounges to soak up the sun.

Diving

Diving in the Maldives includes dives sites inside and outside the atolls, as well as in the channels where strong currents attract a myriad of marine life. Cleaning stations for giant Napoleon wrasse groupers and parrotfish are found around every corner and divers can expect encounters with big species such as manta rays, whale sharks and the occasional tiger shark during their Maldives scuba diving vacation.

Water temperatures in the Maldives average around 80-84°F (26-28°C), with most divers comfortable in a 3mm wetsuit. The southwest monsoon brings more rain and big animal action between May and October, with mantas and whale sharks most commonly spotted in April, May, October and November. Currents can be quite strong in January and February, with visibility at its best in January and sometimes more than 200 feet (60 meters).

All diving is done from the 60-foot diving dhoni, with each diver having their own seat and basket to store gear that will remain on the dhoni. On an average day, 3-4 dives are offered, as well as a night dive, with it mandatory that every diver has safety devices to manage themselves in the strong currents. Dive computers are also compulsory and local laws stipulate that the maximum dive depth is 98 feet (30 meters) on all Maldives liveaboards.

Divers can opt to pick a buddy of their choice or dive with one of the crew members, each of which offer their own talents. Every dive begins with a comprehensive briefing from one of the crew who will also be on hand to help spot critters underwater.

The Maldives Aggressor provides 80 cubic ft tanks, weight belts and weights, with all tanks equipped with K-valves (American type) and DIN (European) adaptors. A limited number of 100 cu ft tanks are available, as is Nitrox for an additional fee. A full line of rental gear is also available with prior notification.

The Maldives Aggressor boasts a complete digital photo facility, including a PC for downloading photos, a large camera table & a strobe charging station. The Photo Pro is available for free coaching when using the Maldives Aggressor’s photo equipment rentals or can capture your diving adventure to share with family & friends back home.
