While there are a few dive options on the South-Eastern side of the island, the Dominican Republic is well known for an area north of the island, known as Silver Banks. This is a 20 sq mile marine sanctuary, accessible only by liveaboard, where you can snorkel with Humpback Whales during the months of January to April. Even among divers, this is a highly sought after destination, and typically needs to be booked years in advance.
You have the opportunity to swim within a few feet of the 30ft+ humpbacks, to hear them sing, and to watch them put on shows above the surface, a truly awe-inspiring, humbling and exciting experience!
This trip is perfect for divers and non-divers alike."
