Diving:

At the back of the mid-deck is Blue Horizon’s diving area, which features wooden benches and individual lockers to make storing and donning gear a breeze. There are freshwater hoses and two rinse tanks available, plus two outdoor showers for rinsing off after your dives.

Diving is done from two tenders, which transport guests to dive sites throughout the Red Sea. Up to four dives are offered each day during Red Sea liveaboard trips, although no night dives are allowed in the marine parks. Highly experienced dive guides are stationed onboard the Blue Horizon and detailed briefings are given before each dive.

In addition to a full line of scuba rental gear, this Red Sea liveaboard offers several SSI courses onboard. These include Advanced Adventurer, Nitrox and Deep Diving. The Blue Horizon is tech- and rebreather-friendly and Nitrox is available at a surcharge for certified divers.
Itineraries include explorations of both the northern and southern areas of the Red Sea, including the Strait of Tiran, Brothers, Daedalus and Elphinstone Reefs. The Blue Horizon also runs itineraries focused on the sites around Rocky, Zabargad, and St Johns, as well as venturing to the Fury Shoal in the deep south.

Diving in the Red Sea is possible all year round, but the prime times to go are usually from March to May and September to November. The Blue Horizon takes a break from early December to late January when temperatures are at their chilliest.

Water temps in the Red Sea typically sit between 74° and 84°F (23° and 29°C) throughout the year. During the warmer months, most divers find a 3mm wetsuit is adequate, but when it gets cooler, you might want to opt for a 5mm or even a 7mm suit.
