Amenities
The Grand Sea Explorer’s spacious, air-conditioned salon is equipped with a state-of-the-art entertainment system, as well as a selection of movies for guests to peruse. You can take advantage of the complimentary Wi-Fi or browse the onboard library for novels, magazines and fish identification books.
At the end of an exhilarating day diving, you can settle in with a drink at the bar to recount the day’s encounters or soak up the sun on one of the open decks. There’s ample seating available in both exposed and shaded areas, with a combination of comfortable chairs and sun loungers.
DIVING
The Grand Sea Explorer is purpose-built for diving, with a huge waterline-level dive deck that can accommodate all 22 divers at individual seating stations. A detailed briefing is given at the start of each dive, with three professional guides in the water at all times.
In addition to a Helium/Oxygen blending station and Haskel pump, the vessel is equipped with a Nitrox compressor and Nitrox is provided free for certified divers. The Grand Sea Explorer is a popular choice for open-circuit technical divers and closed-circuit divers, with on-demand Trimix and Heliox available.
12L tanks with International or DIN valves are provided on board for each guest (with 15L tanks also available) and you can rent a full line of high-quality equipment with prior notification. There are battery charging stations for underwater photographers and warm-water showers where you can rinse off after your dives.
The Grand Sea Explorer is fully licensed to cruise the entire Egyptian Red Sea, with itineraries departing from either Port Ghaleb or Hurghada. Explore the pristine corals of the world-renowned Brothers Islands and remote Daedelus Reef, then come face-to-face with big pelagics and hammerheads while diving Elphinstone Reef.
Up to four dives are offered each day (depending on the season), with all diving conducted from three dive tenders. From October through to April, only three dives are offered each day due to the shorter daylight hours.
The Red Sea offers outstanding year-round conditions for an Egyptian dive vacation but water temperatures vary significantly throughout the seasons. They can range from 86°F (30°C) in August down to as low as 71°F (22°C) in February, with air temperatures ranging from around 104°F (40°C) down to 68°F (20°C) for the same periods. While a shorty wet suit will provide ample protection during the summer months, you may be more comfortable in a 5 mm wet suit with hood and gloves during the winter season.
