Cayman Brac Beach Resort is located on four and a half acres of pristine white sand on the southwest end of Cayman Brac. A short flight from Grand Cayman, the family owned and operated resort delivers 40 charming Caribbean style beach view rooms. The beach area is private and peaceful and from the minute you arrive you are enveloped in serenity bordered by swaying palms and the idyllic blue of the Caribbean Sea. Perfect sunsets and vast starry skies tell the passing of the hour as your day to day cares drift away.

Diving here is second to none. The Cayman Islands feature prominently in Scuba Diving Magazine’s 2015 Readers Choice Awards earning the number one spot in the ‘Best Overall Diving,’ ‘Best Marine Environment,’ ‘Best Wall Diving,’ and ‘Best Underwater Photography’ categories as well as placing in the top five in eight other categories. With over 100 different hard corals, 500 species of fish, visibility up to 150ft and water temperatures averaging 80 degrees it’s easy to see why the Cayman Islands are a firm favorite for scuba diving vacations.

Accommodation

On the beach and surrounded by tropical foliage, there are 40 oceanfront guest rooms. Rooms reflect the Caribbean both inside and out and have either a patio for ground floor rooms or balcony for first floor rooms. Guest rooms feature either two double beds, one king size bed or three double beds and are cooled with air-conditioning and have a ceiling fan too.

Dining

Meals are served onsite at The Palms Caribbean Restaurant. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are available, and in-room service can be requested. Most people may not get excited at the idea of buffet food, but let us assure you, this is some of the tastiest and nicest quality buffet style meals you can get. There is a poolside pub which also overlooks the beach called The Tipsy Turtle where you can recharge with a tropical cocktail and choose from a bar food menu too. Friday night is barbecue night, and features live music. Special diets can be accommodated but do get your scuba diving travel agent to advise the resort of your requirements in advance.

Other Facilities

Swing in a hammock or laze around the pool but for the full relaxation experience, there is an on-site spa offering massage, algae face masks, sea salt body polish, manicures, pedicures, body wraps, and facials. Retail therapy can be found in Polly’s Landing Gift Shop and the weekly craft market; both are on site.

Relaxation comes in many forms, and for those who prefer to work up a good sweat, Island Shapes Fitness Center provides facilities for a good workout, or you can take a kayak out for a spin, go hiking or biking, play tennis, go rock climbing, or cave exploring.

Island tours, bird watching, and fishing, are available too. We recommend having the front desk set up a tour for you through the tourism board. A guide will happily show you around the island in exchange for a gratuity. Taxis are readily available for this and a very convenient way to explore the limestone caves of Cayman Brac.

In the evening, there is a weekly bingo night, trivia night, crab race, coral reef presentation, and a movie night where viewers are treated to an outdoor big screen cinema experience under the stars with complimentary popcorn.

Diving

Cayman Brac Beach Resort’s diving operator, Reef Divers, offer a superb dive valet service which leaves you little else to do other than splash in and enjoy the incredible visibility for which Cayman Island diving is famous. On your first day of diving, just leave your gear bag outside of your room, and the rest is done for you. No need to carry your gear, set it up or even change tanks in between dives, simply disembark at the end of the day with your mask, snorkel, and suit, rinse and hang them for drying, and you’re done.

Reef Divers are PADI affiliated and offer certifications under the universal referral program too. Courses up to dive master are available but all, apart from nitrox, must be booked in advance. Top notch gear is available for hire too.

Each day there’s a morning two tank trip at 8.30 am and a single tank dive in the afternoon leaving at 2 pm. Night dives leave at 7.30 pm on selected evenings. There are weekly trips to Bloody Bay Wall Marine Park and frequent trips to the wreck MV Capt. Keith Tibbets shipwreck. Snorkelers are catered for too.

The center operates four boats, and although they have a larger capacity, the crew restrict numbers to twenty divers per boat for your comfort. With speeds of up to 20 mph, you can be sure you will be whisked to dive sites swiftly. Each boat is comfortable, with adequate seating, enough shade, and has been designed to allow easy entries and exits. On board, you will find a padded camera table, freshwater shower, ice water, fruit, snacks, and toilets.

If you want a nice relaxing dive vacation, complete with white-sand beach, you won’t want to miss this resort.
