Diving
Set on the edge of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, Roatan offers some of the best diving in the Caribbean. Discover dramatic walls featuring colorful sea sponges and the fascinating Prince Albert wreck, with water temperatures at an enticing 77 – 84°F (25 – 29°C) and visibility anywhere from 33-98 feet (10-30 meters).
CocoView Resort offers unlimited, 24-hour shore diving in their house reef, as well as daily dive trips in one of their custom-designed 50-foot dive boats. Each of the six-dive boats is equipped for easy entry and exits, with a 45-foot high-speed dive boat for accessing remote dive sites on three-tank trips.
Orientation dives are conducted for all new divers in the house reef, allowing you to familiarize yourself with the site and any rental equipment, as well as refresh your skills if it’s been a while between dives. CocoView Resort’s experienced dive masters will use this opportunity to introduce you to the Prince Albert Wreck, Newman’s Wall and the CocoView Wall.
On a typical day, there will be boat trips departing in the morning and afternoon (with two dives on each), as well as optional night dives either on the house reef or by boat. High-quality dive equipment can be rented by prior arrangement with CocoView Resort and Nitrox is available for an additional fee.
Other Activities
Aside from offering outstanding diving, the CocoView Resort makes a great base for kayaking excursions to explore the natural beauty of Roatan. CocoView’s house reef also offers exceptional snorkeling, with equipment available for rent to non-diving family members. The coral-covered Newman’s Wall and CocoView Wall can both be explored while snorkeling, as can the Prince Albert Wreck when visibility is good.
Local musicians and dancers perform regularly at the CocoView Resort, showcasing the rich culture and Garifuna traditions of Roatan. Beach barbecues are another highlight of the resort, creating a setting to socialize with other divers while feasting on freshly-caught seafood.
