Diving

Dive Savusavu is the in-house operator at this Fiji dive resort and is run by a team of highly skilled divemasters who have grown up in and around the waters. It is the first locally-owned dive shop in Fiji and is affiliated with SSI. They offer 5-, 7- and 10-night dive packages that access the dive sites in the Koro Sea, Somosomo Strait, and Natewa Bay.

Within a short boat ride of Koro Sun Resort, you can get up close to grey and whitetip reef sharks at the sea mount of “Dream House”, admire the colorful soft corals of the “Purple Garden” or explore the healthy pinnacle at “Cocktail Canyon”. Swim-throughs and caverns await at the “Dungeons and Dragons” dive site while aptly-named “Turtle Alley” is notable for its hawksbill and green turtles.

A full range of rental gear is available at Dive Savusavu and they also offer several SSI courses, from Open Water to Dive Master training. For non-diving family members, they run snorkelling trips, fishing charters, and sunset cruises.

Fiji experiences a tropical climate, with air temperatures between 82 and 86°F (28 to 30°C). Water temperatures hover between 73 and 81°F (23 and 27°C), with most divers comfortable in a 3mm wetsuit. The best months for diving in Fiji are usually between July and December when the water temperature is slightly cooler and the visibility is at its best. In terms of tourist numbers, April to October is the busiest season.
