Diving

Volivoli Beach Resort is situated on the edge of the Bligh Waters’ Vatu-I-Ra Passage – a national marine protected area and home to some of Fiji’s healthiest reefs. Their in-house PADI dive operator, Ra Divers, has more than 25 years experience diving in these waters and unparalleled local knowledge of the more than 50 dive sites that can be accessed by boat.

The Bligh Waters boast magnificent coral gardens and walls where you can see first hand why Fiji is known as the “soft coral capital of the world”. There are also challenging dives at the Papuan Explorer and the 55-metre deep Ovalau wreck, both of which are teeming with marine life. Or for highly experienced divers looking for an adrenalin-rush, the deep reef Breathtaker dive site is home to white tip, black tip, grey reef and whaler sharks.

Ra Divers operate their dive trips on covered launches with twin 300hp motors, meaning that travel times are short and their captain always aims to get you to the best dive sites, even if that means going further from shore. They usually depart around 8:30 in the morning for two dives and return for lunch, with optional afternoon dive trips depending on demand. Shore diving is also possible in the shallow waters surrounding the Volivoli spit.

They offer dive certification courses for all level of divers, with an open-air classroom and shallow waters off the sand spit where beginners can take their first steps. Ra Divers’ highly trained instructors are also certified to teach a huge range of PADI specialty courses which can be added on to your package, and Nitrox is available for an extra charge.
